Naomi Campbell claims she's a 'target'
SUPERMODEL Naomi Campbell has spoken out about her reputation for having a fiery temper - saying she is the “target” of people who are attempting to take advantage of her.
The 36-year-old catwalk star says she does not want to spend time alone in the same room with anyone to prevent further allegations.
She spoke out as it emerged that police in London are taking no further action over claims that she attacked her drugs counsellor.
But Campbell is due back in a New York court in January to face separate charges of assaulting her former maid with a jewel-encrusted mobile phone.
Campbell faces up to seven years in jail if convicted of second-degree assault on her former maid.
The Streatham-born model told Sky News: “It’s been really like a tough year in terms of like the accusations and stuff like that. It’s been very hurtful and blown out of proportion.
“But I can’t stop getting on with my life. I have to get on with my life. I can’t pay too much attention to this negative stuff.
“I don’t like to live in the negative. I like to stay in the present moment and stay positive.”
The catwalk queen said of the London allegations: “What’s awful about it is it’s dropped - none of it was concrete evidence to be held.
“It’s just like ‘where does this come from and why?’ I just feel like I am a target.
“I have to be very careful who I’m around, what I say, who’s around me.
“I cannot be with someone on my own anymore because I don’t know the agendas that people have.
“I’ve had to learn from my mistakes but I don’t harbour grudges. I’m like a human like everybody else."
Campbell could agree to perform community service to settle the assault charge in New York but her lawyer has said that she will not sweep the streets, as Boy George recently did.
